Alia Bhatt has arrived on the summer-dressing scene. The actor was spotted in a white cuban collar shirt with chikankari embroidery, pairing it with white cargo pants. And, instead of tucking in her shirt, to break the look, the actor opted to wear a belt on it, to give off the ’70s aesthetic. The actor was all set to beat the heat, accessorising her outfit with a white wide-brimmed hat and white kitten heels. The designer behind the look was Sunira Designs, a New Delhi-based label that uses handloom textiles, hand printing techniques and hand stitching to make its clothes. The outfit was created by collaborating with Shabana Azmi’s NGO, Mijwan Welfare Society(MWS) and the label. The collection named Mausam-e-sukoon was an ode to the traditional craft of chikankari that was patronised by Awadh royalty in 17th and 18th century India. Chikankari is a craft practised in the subcontinent since the Mughal period, favoured by the aristocracy for its light and airy nature, now it’s the perfect attire for balmy Indian summers.
