Passion is often best unleashed in black and white. Tabu and Katrina Kaif seemed in sync with each other while celebrating that notion at the trailer launch of their new film Fitoor. If the film’s title translates to passion, its two heroines gorgeously defined that trait in the contrasting shades.
Abhishek Kapoor’s Fitoor has generated a buzz for quite a while now. Monday evening’s launch do at a suburban Mumbai cineplex only heightened excitement among gathered paparazzi and guests. Fitoor is based on Charles Dickens’ classic Great Expectations, and has Katrina and Tabu essaying positive and negative shades in love, probably underlining their evening’s dress code.

Katrina’s LWD statement was mostly talk of the evening. Her little white sleeveless number by Cushnie Et Ochs complemented her fab bod and toned legs. She accessorised well with Aldo cutout cage sandals. Tabu’s all-black stunner added to the actress’s statuesque aura. Not to be left out, hero of the film Aditya Roy Kapoor made a dapper casual statement. Clearly, the three stars gave a lot of work for the gathered shutterbugs to do all through the evening. Time for the trailer unveiling after the mandatory photo-ops, and as the promo played out Abhishek’s new film looked every bit as interesting as his earlier efforts, Kai Po Che and Rock On.

The trailer in fact has garnered positive response ever since it was uploaded on YouTube, with nearly 14 lakh hits in less than 24 hours. Aditya, Katrina and Tabu play Noor, Firdaus and Begum Hazrat, the three primary characters based on the immortal creations Pip, Estella and Miss Havisham that Dickens created in his acclaimed novel. Director Kapoor, who has also co-written and co-produced Fitoor, has added a contemporary touch by reimagining Dickens’ tale of intense romance amid the backdrop of terrorinfested Kashmir.

If the trailer is an indicator, Katrina and Aditya look set to strike sizzling chemistry as lovers facing stormy fate while Tabu is sinister in an understated manner in her negative role. It seems to be another winning performance coming from the actress.

Fitoor is slated to release on February 12.
