The Thanksgiving feast is beginning early at the box office.

Pixar’s animated family tentpole The Good Dinosaur and MGM/New Line’s Creed — a Rocky reboot of sorts starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone — are off to a strong start at the Wednesday box office, although The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 should have no trouble staying No. 1 for the five-day holiday stretch.

Early returns show Mockingjay 2 grossing $13 million-plus on Wednesday for a five day gross of $73 million to $75 million.

The Good Dinosaur is on course to earn $9 million-plus on Wednesday for a $60 million-plus five-day debut.

Costing between $175 million-$200 million to produce, Good Dinosaur marks the first time Pixar has ever released two films in the same year. In June, Inside Out opened to a rousing $90.4 million after earning $3.7 million in Thursday-night previews.

Disney has made it a habit of launching animated fare over the Thanksgiving holiday. In 2013, Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen debuted to $93.6 million, the biggest five-day Thanksgiving opening of all time. One exception was last year, when DreamWorks Animation claimed the holiday with Penguins of Madagascar, which opened to a disappointing $35.4 million for the five days.

Creed is overperforming thanks to stellar reviews for a projected $7.5 million Wednesday and five-day debut as high as $40 million. Wednesday’s haul includes $1.4 million earned Tuesday night, the best showing ever for late-night, pre-Thanksgiving previews. Good Dinosaur followed with $1.3 million Tuesday night.
