“Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP)” has surpassed the mark of Rs 200 crore nett in collections at the Indian box office in 14 days. It has become the third Salman Khan-starrer to achieve this feat.

Salman Khan’s previous outings “Kick” and “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” had crossed the mark of Rs 200 crore nett at the Indian box office in 11 and nine days, respectively. Before its release, trade analyst had predicted that “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” would shatter the records of both these blockbusters.

The opening weekend collection of “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” strengthened the trade pundits’ belief that it would score double century in its eight-day extended opening week. But the Salman Khan-starrer showed a steep decline in numbers on its first Monday and continued to dip on the following weekdays.

“Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” dropped further on its second Friday, but showed decent growth over the weekend. Its business fell again on its second Monday and continued to drop on the following days. The film has collected Rs 20.40 crore nett in its second weekend and Rs 7.25 crore on the weekdays in the domestic market.

With one day left to complete its second week, “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” has collected approximately Rs 27.65 crore nett at the Indian box office. Its 14-day domestic total nett collection has now reached Rs 200.47 crore.

“Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” was expected to beat the lifetime business records of “Kick” and “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, which have collected Rs 231.85 crore and Rs 320.34 crore, respectively, at the Indian box office. Its current pace shows it may need another two weeks to break the record of “Kick”, but it will not be able to smash the record of “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”.

In fact, the chances of “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” beating the record of even “Kick” look slim as the film will clash with the uber-hyped “Tamasha” in its third week. The Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone-starrer will definitely snatch a large number of screens and also take a toll on PRDP’s business.
