Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor have gone from being friends to lovers, and now are back to being – in their words – ‘good friends’. The two actors have dated for a year in the past. Now, while Ranbir Kapoor is dating Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone is in a relationship with Ranveer Singh. Questions pertaining to Ranbir Kapoor’s marriage to Katrina Kaif have been the talk of the town for a while now, but his Tamasha co-star Deepika Padukone says the actor will not tie the knot till the time she gives the green signal. Ranbir, 33, shares an amicable relationship with Padukone post their split.

Earlier, right after their break-up, Ranbir and Deepika didn’t exactly share an all too cordial relationship with each other. However, with time, the bitterness has subsided and the two are now starring together in their second film post break-up. As far as Ranbir’s marriage question is concerned, Deepika still seems to make the decisions, though!

“Ranbir can’t get married till I allow it…,” Deepika told PTI.
To which Ranbir, who has been dating Katrina for a while now, added, “It’s a very big question about my life. I completely believe in the institution of marriage. When I will get married, I will let the whole world know about it.”

Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha is Ranbir and Deepika’s third film together after Siddharth Anand’s Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) and Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (2013). Deepika’s first step in Bollywood happened in 2007, alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the film Om Shanti Om. For Ranbir, the entry to the Hindi film industry was in 2007 itself, with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya. The two films hit the screen on the same day – November 9, 2007. However, while Deepika’s debut film broke several box office records, Ranbir’s one sank without a trace.

“It feels just like yesterday. I saw Deepika outside Saawariya sets, walking across to the Om Shanti Om sets. Eight years have passed, and we have no idea. We have worked hard and reached the point we have desired for in our lives,” Ranbir said. For Deepika, 29, Ranbir is still the same person that she met eight years ago. Deepika said, “It’s a very unique situation. We have heard about actors debuting in the same year, but actors debuting on the same day is something which does not happen normally. I hope he never changes. But it has been an amazing journey.”

Ever since the trailer of Tamasha hit the internet, Deepika and Ranbir’s chemistry has cooked up a tornado of sorts. The pair has found itself a place alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, as far as the list of Most Romantic Jodis of Bollywood is concerned. An online poll even said how the two are on their way to becoming the next SRK-Kajol.

The ex-lovers will now be seen together on the silver screen in Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha. The film is scheduled for a release on November 27.
