‘Shogun’ Season 2 Cast – 1 Star Confirmed to Return, 1 Unlikely to Return & 6 Stars’ Fate Unknown

Hiroyuki Sanada is the only cast member confirmed to reprise his role in season two. In May 2024, it was revealed he would reprise his role as Lord Yoshii Toranaga. Spoiler alert, but Anna Sawai‘s Lady Mariko dies in season one, so the chances of her returning are much lower. When asked about her potential return in flashbacks, Anna told THR, “They can do that. I don’t know if it’s necessary though. I don’t want them to write something just to have her in it, like it feels a little forced. I’m happy. I just want to watch it as an audience. I was telling them I’m happy to go to set and like walk the dogs or be with the horses, that’s my next job.” Anna made history at the 2024 Emmy Awards in September as the first actor of Asian descent to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work on the show.
