‘Wish’ is now in theatres. The Disney film features Ariana DeBose and Chris Pine giving voice to the lead characters of Asha and King. It’s been a while since a movie rolled the classic ‘Happily Ever After’ credits. What better than a Disney movie to do the honours? ‘Wish’ is exactly the teenage nostalgia that you perhaps reel over. It is a reminder of simpler times, which perhaps we are not in sync with. Does it work? Well, let’s find out. ‘Wish’ is about Asha [voiced by Ariana DeBose] who is a young teenager with a good heart, living in Rosas, a town where sorcery is dominated by King Magnifico [Chris Pine]. When the power-hungry King goes rogue, Asha makes a powerful ‘wish’ in the form of a ‘star’ and together, they decide to free Rosas from the evil energy of the King. The storyline is as simple as it gets. Don’t go looking for layers, because there are none, and perhaps that is what makes it a mindless, decent watch.
