A new trailer for Martin Scorsese’s upcoming movie Killers of the Flower Moon explains the insidious plot at the center of the true story. A new trailer has arrived for Killers of the Flower Moon. The upcoming movie, which was directed by Martin Scorsese, stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser, Tantoo Cardinal, and John Lithgow. Based on David Grann’s 2017 nonfiction book of the same name, the movie follows an investigation into a series of murders of people from the Osage tribe in Oklahoma. The trailer offers a closer glimpse at the plot machinations at the center of the movie. When war hero Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio) returns home, his uncle William Hale (De Niro) conscripts him into a conspiracy to marry into the Osage tribe, who are the owners of a tract of land that has enough oil to make them wealthy beyond measure.

Killers Of The Flower Moon Could Be A Huge Win For Apple

The new Scorsese movie seems ready-made for Oscar buzz. In addition to the director having an Oscar of his own and helming the Best Picture winner The Departed, the Killers of the Flower Moon cast assembles multiple Oscar nominees and winners. Fraser won most recently for his role in The Whale, but DiCaprio has an Oscar for The Revenant, De Niro has two for The Godfather Part II and Raging Bull, and Lithgow and Plemons have an additional three nominations between them. If it gets a Best Picture nomination or especially a win, the movie could be a huge feather in the cap for Apple Studios. Their first big win at the Oscars was CODA taking Best Picture in 2022; however, that movie was technically a co-production between Pathé Films and Vendôme Pictures that was then acquired and distributed by Apple as an Apple TV+ original. Killers of the Flower Moon is a project that Apple has had their hands on from the beginning, and this new trailer offers a further look into what makes it such a strong awards contender.

It remains to be seen whether Killers of the Flower Moon performs as well with audiences as it has with critics thus far. However, it could very well do for Apple what The Irishman did for Netflix. That movie was another recent star-studded Scorsese epic that was over three hours long, and it swept the 2020 Oscar nominations with ten nods from the Academy, including a nomination for Best Picture.
