Hansal Mehta has adopted Jigna Vora’s memoir ‘Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison’ for his next web show, Scoop. Vora was implicated in the murder of senior scribe, Jyotirmoy Dey. A crime journalist becomes a murder suspect — quite a scoop, isn’t it? Hansal Mehta’s next, which is inspired by Jigna Vora’s memoir ‘Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison’, delves into the same. Rightly titled ‘Scoop’, the show stars Karishma Tanna, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Harman Baweja Prosenjit Chatterjee, among others.

Netflix dropped the trailer of Scoop on Monday, which brings fore the story of an ace crime reporter Jagruti (Tanna), who gets a call from a dreaded gangster (Chhota Rajan). The harrowing sequence of events that follows, including the murder of another journalist, leaves her as a prime suspect. She is soon pushed into jail and left to fight her battles alone. The trailer also showcases society’s rush to judgment as Jagruti is caught between the nexus of the police, the underworld, and the media. The trailer definitely will leave chills down the spine of most crime journalists, who go all out for that one ‘breaking story’. Karishma Tanna, who has been missing from the screen for a long time, gives her career-best performance as she switches between the highs of her career to dealing with all kinds of torture in custody. It’s also heartening to see Harman Baweja back, playing a police officer, who already believes Jagruti is the culprit.
