hen a celebrity appears on the red carpet for a movie premiere, her fashion choices always help sell the film in some way or another. But for the upcoming release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Zendaya is taking the job quite literally.

The actress is currently promoting the third installment in Marvel’s latest Spider-Man franchise, which she stars in opposite boyfriend Tom Holland. So far, she’s paid homage to the classic superhero story through webbed accessories at one event and a villain-referencing gown at another.

For last night’s Los Angeles premiere, Zendaya traded subtlety for an explicit fashion statement. Longtime stylist Law Roach dressed the actress in a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown. The nude dress featured a deep V-neck cut, a low-scooped back, a high-leg slit, and, most notably, black spiderwebs embroidered all over. Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli also made a black feathered mask for the occasion.

Zendaya completed her look with minimalist accessories, including sparkling crystal pumps from Christian Louboutin and jewelry by Bulgari.

Zendaya last nodded to the spider theme at a London photo-call earlier this month, during which she wore a crystal-embellished blazer and stockings by Alexander McQueen. She topped off the look with a pair of silver webbed earrings.

Before that, Zendaya pulled a vintage dress from Roberto Cavalli’s autumn 2000 collection. The gold dress, “re-edited” by creative director Fausto Puglisi, featured a gold spine back piece that seemed to reference Doctor Octopus, a Marvel character known for having metal tentacles protruding from his back.
