What If…? episode 3 offers a unique take on another MCU movie, which is 2012’s The Avengers. The episode is based on a simple premise, “What if the Avengers couldn’t assemble?” Although the premise seems pretty interesting, it is rather poorly executed. What If…? episode 3 might just be the weakest episode so far. Marvel’s What If…? episode 3 cast features Jeffrey Wright, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Michael Douglas, and more. The series is directed by Bryan Andrews and AC Bradley is the head writer.

What If…? episode 3 shows how the process of assembling the Avengers can go wrong, which is explored over the course of a few days. The events in this episode are explored within a short runtime, the episode feels a bit rushed. The rushed nature of What If…? episode 3 doesn’t really allow the characters to find their own space in the story. This leaves no room for character development, which can make even familiar characters feel distant. The first two episodes of What If…? focused mostly on building great characters like Captain Carter and T’Challa’s Star-Lord. These episodes featured fantastic character-focused journeys that help in building a great narrative. However, this isn’t the case with What If…? episode 3. The episode focuses on telling a larger story that doesn’t really allow any character to stand out. Although the episode has an ensemble cast of characters, it feels like we barely get to connect with any of them.
