Sam Wilson Trends After Marvel Changes Captain America Twitter Name & Image

Marvel has changed the Captain America Twitter account to reflect Captain Carter’s role in What If…?, and Sam Wilson fans have some objections.

Following the sudden change of Marvel’s Captain America social media page, Sam Wilson trends online as fans share their support for Anthony Mackie’s character. Since the MCU’s creation, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) loomed large as Captain America, one of the franchise’s biggest heroes. Steve received an impressive arc that spanned nearly ten years before stepping down in Avengers: Endgame and passing on the shield to Sam. Sam’s journey to accepting the Captain America role was then chronicled in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier earlier this year.

The final episode of the Disney+ series, which arrived back in March, was Sam’s first official outing as Captain America. In the days following its release, Marvel made several gestures to welcome Sam into his new role. From releasing a poster of him in his full costume to changing the Captain America Twitter page to reflect Sam’s MCU arc, there was no question that the onetime Falcon had changed roles. However, with the new series What If…? offering an alternate captain, things have changed online.
