Focus Features has announced that its buzzy Oscar hopeful Promising Young Woman will release digitally for VOD rentals beginning Jan. 15, just under one month after the Emerald Fennell-directed film released in theaters over the holiday season. The film — which received enthusiastic critical reviews upon its debut at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival — follows Mulligan as Cassie, a medical school dropout who avenges a classmate’s sexual assault by luring toxic men into a web of physical and psychological torture while balancing a budding romance with a local charmer (Bo Burnham) of her own.
