Ariana Grande makes no qualms about loving Disney princesses. She did, after all, belt the title song for the live-action version of Beauty and the Beast. And she continued down the Disney way at the 2020 Grammys red carpet, looking like a modern-day version of Cinderella.
Nominated for five awards, including the coveted Album of the Year (for Thank U, Next) and Record of the Year (for “7 Rings”) titles, Grande’s night is gearing up to be a stellar one. Even if the competition is stiff with Billie Eilish and Lizzo as contenders, there is certainly a good chance Grande will walk away with at least one statue—and what better way to make a statement onstage than with a multitiered tulle ball gown by Giambattista Valli?
Indeed, if anyone wanted to look like the proverbial belle of the ball, Cinderella is the ultimate source of inspiration. From her cinched bodice to her voluminous skirt to her opera gloves, the fabled princess permeates charm and femininity. Grande’s ensemble certainly imbued these characteristics—albeit with slight adjustments.
Instead of silk in light baby blue, she wore tulle in cadet gray. She also replaced the glass slippers with Christian Louboutin pumps. It was an updated version of a classic style—one that clearly didn’t last until the stroke of midnight.
