Amidst all the controversies that Kangana Ranaut stirred recently, her film Judgementall Hai Kya released at the box office, on Friday and turned out to be an epic disappointment.

The film revolves around Bobby Batliwala Grewal, who believes that her ‘kiraydaar’ Keshav wants to kill his wife. Keshav’s wife then dies in an accident and Bobby is convinced that Keshav was behind it. Did he kill his wife or not forms the rest of the plot.

The film is interesting in the beginning however, as it progresses it becomes too difficult to sit through it. The second half, especially, is tiring and tests your patience. This film is neither well-researched nor informative, on top of it, it also stereotypes mental illness. Kangana’s make up, hair and clothes seem like a deliberate effort to make her look ‘mental’. This film is a whodunit, but the climax is very predictable. It seems that director Prakash Kovelamudi made the second half for his own creative satisfaction as it’s bound to give audiences a headache.

Kangana is a fabulous actor however, she hasn’t done anything different in this movie. We have seen her doing similar roles in the past. Rajkummar Rao too is a terrific actor and though he impresses with his performance, the script fails him.

Jimmy Sheirgill is seen in a special appearance and he is good in his role. Amyra Dastur has played Raj’s wife and she is pleasant. Amrita Puri is also there in the movie and she has acted well. Though the film is good in the acting department, its entertainment quotient is zero. Yes, it makes you giggle at the lead characters’ antics but that’s all. It’s a dark thriller but it’s predictable and second half is specially boring. Making a movie on mental health issues, doesn’t make it an intelligent cinema automatically and Bollywood makers need to understand that. Cinematography is good, background score is powerful but doesn’t match the narrative. Dialogues are average. As much as I wanted to enjoy this film I just couldn’t.
