Years after the first two film adaptations starring Angelina Jolie, the video game franchise is getting another cinematic adaptation with Tomb Raider. The film is directed by Norwegian director Roar Uthaug, stars Ex Machina’s Alicia Vikander as the franchise’s iconic character and Justified’s Walt Goggins as its villain. The movie will follow Lara Croft’s origins as she works to figure out what happened to her missing father. She heads to his last-known location, a tomb called The Mother of Death on an island near Japan, where she discovers and has to stop a plot that threatens the world.
