ABC is making a Bollywood comedy series with Priyanka Chopra

ABC is looking to lure in fans of one of the world’s biggest film markets, with Deadline reporting that the network has started development on a new single-camera comedy set in the world of Bollywood. Executive produced by the Mark Gordon Company and Quantico star Priyanka Chopra, the untitled project is inspired by the life and career of Indian actress and Hindi cinema star Madhuri Dixit, who will also executive produce.

Bollywood—part of the wider Hindi cinema umbrella—is one of the fastest growing film markets in the world, drawing in millions of fans in India and across the globe. There’s no word yet who’ll star in the project, or if Chopra—who got her acting start in Bollywood herself—will step out in front of the camera in addition to her behind-the-scenes role.
