Starring Suvinder Vicky and Barun Sobti, the Indian Noir Series debuts on Netflix this July. Netflix recently debuted the first trailer for its upcoming noir thriller series Kohrra, starring Suvinder Vicky and Barun Sobti as police officers investigating a murder in the heartland of India. Kohrra is mainly set in the state of Punjab, which remains largely unrepresented in mainstream Indian cinema. Described as a \u201cmasterful exploration of human nature\u201d where the search for justice \u201cbecomes intertwined with the politics of interpersonal relationships,\u201d Kohrra, which translates to \u201cfog\u201d in Hindi, is set for release later this month.<\/p>\n

The trailer opens with a young couple discovering a dead body in a field. The police are summoned, and immediately begin questioning the victim\u2019s family members. They discover the victim was an N.R.I. \u2014 a non-resident Indian \u2014 who\u2019d just returned home from abroad to get married. Suspicion falls on his fianc\u00e9, of course, but also on her ex-boyfriend, with whom she is still in contact. The cops also contemplate the involvement of a gang, but everybody is left scratching their heads over one aspect of the case: the victim\u2019s friend, a British national named Liam, who went missing on the same day as the murder. \u201cLove blurs the lines between right and wrong,\u201d reads the text on screen, as the trailer implies that the victim was murdered by somebody close to them. \u201cWe spend our entire lives without really understanding our own family,\u201d one of the cops \u2014 our veteran protagonist\u2019s younger partner \u2014 says over a glass of alcohol one evening, as the trailer cuts to dramatic action beats and ominous revelations.\n<\/p><\/div>\n
