The film killed it. Martin Scorsese\u2019s brand-new film \u201cKillers of the Flower Moon\u201d received a nine-minute standing ovation during the movie\u2019s world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival Saturday. Scorsese, 80, was joined at the screening by fellow cast members Leonardo DiCaprio, 48, Robert De Niro,79, and Lily Gladstone, 36, reports Deadline. The nearly three and half hour film \u2014 which was adapted from David Grann\u2019s book of the same name \u2014 is set in Oklahoma during the 1920s and depicts the serial murders of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, which was later dubbed the Reign of Terror and led to the formation of the FBI.<\/p>\n

The Post reached out to Scorsese for comment. \u201cIt\u2019s taken its time to come around, but Apple did so great by us, shooting out there \u2026 there was lots of grass \u2014 I\u2019m a New Yorker,\u201d said the \u201cGoodfellas\u201d director in a post-film speech. \u201cWe also lived in that world with the Osage, we really did, and we really miss it.\u201d The \u201cWolf of Wall Street\u201d director also thanked the crowd saying \u201d \u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever experienced [anything] like this.\u201d One early review of the film called it \u201cLeonard DiCaprio\u2019s best performance yet.\u201d \u201cThe dignity and care for the Osage perspective was genuine and honest throughout the process and the Osage responded with the kind of passion and enthusiasm that met this historic moment,\u201d praised former Osage tribal leader Jim Gray.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor those of us who were watching from the sidelines while our best and brightest among us auditioned, sewed, catered, painted, acted and advised the filmmakers, it\u2019s going to be hard not to feel our presence in helping to tell.\u201d Scorsese\u2019s film was not the only movie to make it into the headlines. Harrison Ford\u2019s digitally de-aged face made a long-awaited appearance during the world premiere of \u201cIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.\u201d\n<\/p><\/div>\n
