A new milestone in the books! Kim Kardashian has officially earned herself a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover \u2014 rightfully rocking Skims swimwear for the photo shoot shot by Greg Swales. The reality star, 41, is among four cover models, joining Ciara, 74-year-old Maye Musk and plus-size supermodel Yumi Nu in the 2022 issue, set to hit newsstands on May 19.<\/p>\n

Even though the KKW Beauty founder is no stranger to magazine covers, she says she finds this one to be particularly notable, in that she hasn\u2019t always seen curvy figures on the cover of SI Swimsuit. \u201cI vividly remember Tyra Banks on the cover and women with curves. I remember thinking that is so cool,\u201d the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star told the outlet. \u201cBut, I still didn\u2019t think I would have\u2014I thought you had to be a professional model and a runway model. It was always really young girls. I don\u2019t want to date myself or sound old, but in my 40s? That\u2019s crazy!\u201d<\/p>\n

The brand\u2019s decision to put Kardashian \u2014 among other powerful ladies \u2014 on the cover was grounded in SI Swimsuits\u2018 goal of being more inclusive. \u201cThe journey we\u2019ve been on \u2014 to break out of the mold the world put us in \u2014 may sound familiar,\u201d says SI Swimsuit editor in chief MJ Day. \u201cIt\u2019s certainly familiar to the women we\u2019ve chosen to be our cover models: Maye, Ciara, Yumi, Kim.\u201d \u201cKim, no stranger to the world\u2019s judgment, continues to live proudly, authentically and unapologetically through the noise,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

For her cover story, the mom of four penned a letter to her younger self. \u201cIt\u2019s easy to say to just ignore the criticism, but another thing you\u2019ll learn is that at some point it will click in your head that it\u2019s not about you anymore,\u201d she writes. \u201cIt\u2019s about family. It\u2019s about helping other people. For years you\u2019ll be putting yourself out there\u2026 But you\u2019re going to become a more private person and you\u2019re going to come to realize that the way to get your story out there\u2014the actual narrative, the truth\u2014isn\u2019t by engaging but by doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut know this. When you get here, to May 2022, you\u2019re not going to be content,\u201d she continued. \u201cYou\u2019re still going to be looking for that next \u201cit\u201d \u2026 And when you find it, you\u2019re going to do it \u2014 we\u2019re going to do it \u2014like we always do: to the fullest.\u201d\n<\/p><\/div>\n
