Justin Verlander and Kate Upton\u2019s 2-year-old daughter is well aware of her dad\u2019s athletic prowess \u2014 just not the sport he plays for a living. Since the Houston Astros pitcher has been sidelined since undergoing surgery on his elbow last year, little Genevieve has barely gotten to see her pops play, Upton says. \u201cHe has been showing her lots of highlight films, and I\u2019m not sure if he\u2019s showing her highlight films because he\u2019s not playing right now, or if it\u2019s because, I think she thinks he\u2019s actually a golfer,\u201d Upton said on \u201cThe Tonight Show\u201d Tuesday. \u201cShe\u2019s seen him golf more than she\u2019s seen him play baseball.\u201d Verlander, who played for the Detroit Tigers from 2005 to 2017 before being traded to the Astros, was also mistaken for a PGA pro by Genevieve as the family watched The Masters this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we were watching The Masters the other day, she was like, \u2018Daddy!’\u201d Upton recalled. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018No, that\u2019s not what he does. He\u2019s not that good.’\u201d A Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, Upton, 28, was first linked to Verlander, 38, in 2014 before they got engaged two years later. Following Houston\u2019s World Series win in 2017, the couple tied the knot in Tuscany.\n<\/p><\/div>\n
