Fans of Dead Island may soon enjoy their favourite game as a film in theatres.<\/p>\nDeep Silver’s super hit video game Dead Island may soon be adapted into a movie as a new studio has acquired the film right of the zombie apocalypse game.<\/p>\n
The game makers have found a new partner in All The Boys Love Mandy Lane producer Occupant Entertainment and plan to bring the zombie survival movie to the big screen, Deadline reported.<\/p>\n
This is the second time Deep Silver is trying to make the zombie horror movie. Earlier in 2011, Lionsgate bought the rights of the superbly popular game to make a feature film based on the game’s trailer.<\/p>\n
“Deep Silver has created a highly successful game franchise based on very cinematic, widely viewed and well received trailers, which provide a great template for launching a film franchise with a distinctive and commercial take on the zombie apocalypse,” Occupant partners Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino told Deadline.<\/p>\n
“We want to find the right filmmaker and present somewhat of an open canvas, to make something distinct and original that also appeals to and expands the core audience” they added.<\/p>\n
However, it is not yet clear whether the open-world zombie apocalypse role-playing game will be made into an animation movie or with real characters.<\/p>\n
The production house has also not confirmed the plot of the movie which many think will be based on the game’s trailer.<\/p>\n
The plot of the game is about a family’s dream vacation gone horribly wrong when the island is infected by zombies killing the entire family.<\/p>\n
Since the launch of the game in 2011, Dead Island has sold around 8 million copies and fans are eagerly waiting for the second series of the game to release during the end of the year.<\/p>\n
During the San Diego Comic Con, Sony entertainment announced the big screen adaptation of another zombie horror game, The Last of Us.<\/p>\n
It will be interesting to see which movie fares better and performs above the expectations of gaming fans.<\/p>\n
