The original film was set in 1963 at a Catskills resort.<br \/>\nMegamix\u2019s Jonathan Levine and Gillian Bohrer are shepherding the untitled project with a screenplay by the team of Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis, whose credits include \u201cFive Feet Apart\u201d and \u201cThe Curse of La Llorona.\u201d<br \/>\nThe original \u201cDirty Dancing\u201d was released in 1987 by Vestron. It grossed $217 million at the worldwide box office and sold more than 1 million home video units. The song \u201c(I\u2019ve Had) the Time of My Life\u201d won an Academy Award for best original song.<br \/>\nLionsgate\u2019s Artisan released the prequel \u201cDirty Dancing: Havana Nights\u201d in 2004. Lionsgate holds the distribution rights to the \u201cDirty Dancing\u201d films.<br \/>\nGrey won Season 11 of \u201cDancing With the Stars\u201d and starred in the Amazon sitcom \u201cRed Oaks\u201d from 2014 to 2017. She is repped by UTA and Untitled Entertainment. Daughtry and Iaconis are represented by Verve, Adam Kolbrenner at Lit Entertainment Group, and attorney Scott Whitehead of McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
