{"id":17831,"date":"2020-07-01T07:29:29","date_gmt":"2020-07-01T07:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shows4.com\/mobile\/?p=17831"},"modified":"2020-07-01T07:29:29","modified_gmt":"2020-07-01T07:29:29","slug":"jennifer-hudson-shines-as-aretha-franklin-in-respect-trailer-watch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shows4.com\/?p=17831","title":{"rendered":"Jennifer Hudson Shines as Aretha Franklin in \u2018Respect\u2019 Trailer (Watch)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog_hollywood\/article2053_slide.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog_hollywood\/article2053_slide.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">\nJennifer Hudson is earning everyone\u2019s respect as Aretha Franklin in the new trailer for the upcoming biopic about the Queen of Soul.<br \/>\nReleased during the BET Awards, the trailer starts off with Hudson singing her iconic song \u201cRespect\u201d (which the film is coined after) with the word spelled out behind her in giant neon-style letters before clips of her rise to fame are shown.<br \/>\nThe long-awaited film follows Franklin\u2019s life from singing in her father\u2019s church, to becoming one of the most legendary musicians of all time. The Liesl Tommy-directed film also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Marc Maron, Tate Donovan, Tituss Burgess and newcomer Sky Dakota Turner.<br \/>\nFranklin, who died of pancreatic cancer at the age 76, was a part of the film\u2019s production up until her death in 2018. She received 18 Grammy Awards and was nominated a total of 44 times during her prolific career.<br \/>\nThe film was originally scheduled to release in August, but was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.
