\nTyler Perry is paying for the funeral of Rayshard Brooks, a 27-year-old man who was shot and killed in a Wendy\u2019s parking lot Friday night.
\nBrooks was in the Southside and an investigator from the medical examiner\u2019s office told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution \u201chis cause of death: gunshot wounds of the back.\u201d He was shot by Atlanta police.
\nAttorneys announced Monday that Perry will take care of funeral expenses for Brooks. People magazine reported the media mogul also offered to pay for the college educations of Brooks\u2019 four children. A source told People magazine that Perry \u201cspoke to Rayshard’s family and wanted to do something to help.
\n\u201cHis heart goes out to the family during this tragic time,\u201d the source added.According to a GoFundMe set up by Brooks\u2019 family\u2019s legal team, Brooks leaves behind a wife, Tomika Miller, and four children: 13-year-old Mekai, 8-year-old Blessing, 2-year-old Memory and 1-year-old Dream.
\n\u201cFunds raised will go to his wife and kids,\u201d the GoFundMe stated.While Perry hasn\u2019t publicly acknowledged his offers for Brooks\u2019 family, he recently spoke out about an incident that he said \u201cmade me just as outraged\u201d as the video of George Floyd, who died after a police officer pinned him for several minutes with his knee in Minneapolis. \u201cThis story made me just as outraged as the George Floyd video and yet, nothing\u2019s ever been done about it,\u201d Perry wrote on Instagram Saturday of Terrance Williams, a man who has been missing in Naples, Florida since 2004. \u201cI\u2019ve been fighting and standing with Marcia to get justice for Terrance for 7 years now. It\u2019s so sad that one horrible murder will push the last murder out of the news cycle when all of them point to a collective problem. All black lives matter. All these cases matter. And now Rayshard Brooks in the city that I call home.\u201d\n<\/div>\n
