\nSaddled with horrific reviews (The Atlantic\u2019s David Sims dubbed it \u201cone of the worst cinematic fiascos I\u2019ve seen\u201d) and reports of production nightmares, \u201cDolittle\u201d looks like it\u2019s going to be one of the first high-profile misses of 2020. Extensive re-shoots for the beleaguered fantasy-adventure, about an eccentric veterinarian with a penchant for conversing with his four-legged patients, propelled its price tag above $180 million.
\n\u201cRobert Downey Jr. is a national treasure, and his success with \u2018Iron Man\u2019 and \u2018The Avengers\u2019 cemented his status to the multiplex masses. That said, he doesn\u2019t actually have superpowers, ones that can predict or stop the evil forces that can lead to box office bombs,\u201d said Jeff Bock, a media analyst with Exhibitor Relations. \u201cIn Hollywood, you\u2019re only as good as your last project, and if \u2018Dolittle\u2019 tanks like many suspect, he\u2019ll be down, but certainly not out.\u201d\n<\/div>\n
