Spike Lee wasn’t the only person who had a priceless reaction to the controversial best picture win.<\/p>\nChadwick Boseman may not have turned his back to the stage like Spike Lee, but he was spotted having a crucial reaction when the Oscars ended with \u201cGreen Book\u201d being named Best Picture over the likes of \u201cRoma,\u201d \u201cBlacKkKlansman,\u201d and the actor\u2019s own \u201cBlack Panther.\u201d Cameras picked up Boseman turning to his \u201cBlack Panther\u201d co-star Michael B. Jordan, who was sitting behind him, and giving what can only be described as suggestive side-eye. Of course it\u2019s impossible to know what Boseman was thinking in that moment, but that didn\u2019t stop the internet from having a field day with the brief clip.<\/p>\n
As filmmaker Matthew A. Cherry summed up, \u201cWhen you\u2019re disappointed but not surprised.\u201d Cherry\u2019s Twitter post went viral with over 13,000 retweets and 54,000 likes. Boseman\u2019s reaction quickly became a calling card for everyone\u2019s general feeling about \u201cGreen Book\u201d taking the Oscars\u2019 biggest prize.<\/p>\n
Spike Lee was more blatant in his disdain over \u201cGreen Book\u2019s\u201d victory. Deadline reported the night of the Oscars that Lee \u201cgot up from his seat and walked toward the back of the auditorium in a huff\u201d when the Best Picture prize was announced. Lee \u201cstormed to the back of the auditorium and when he came back he turned his back to the stage during the speech.\u201d Speaking to press backstage for his Best Adapted Screenplay win, Lee said the \u201crefs made a bad call\u201d when asked about the \u201cGreen Book\u201d win.<\/p>\n
Boseman is teaming up with Lee for the director\u2019s next movie, \u201cDa 5 Bloods.\u201d Filming is set to take place over the next two months in Thailand. \u201cDa 5 Bloods\u201d centers around Vietnam War veterans who return to the jungle and relive their loss of innocence.\u201d<\/p>\n
