The critically-acclaimed director reportedly submitted his first draft for the upcoming comic book movie to the studio earlier this month. Now, The Wrap\u2019s Umberto Gonzalez has tweeted about the studio\u2019s allegedly positive response to the first draft of the Caped Crusader\u2019s next movie. Furthermore, Reeves is reportedly working on The Batman revisions at the moment, and the studio is still reportedly hoping for production to start in summer 2019.<\/p>\n
Lastly, Gonzalez claimed that \u201cthe current DC regime is committed to getting this take on the Caped Crusader correct.\u201d Actor Ben Affleck\u2019s version of Bruce Wayne in director Zack Snyder\u2019s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was widely criticized for its deconstruction of the world\u2019s greatest detective.<\/p>\n
While Affleck\u2019s Batman certainly wasn\u2019t the first Dark Knight to kill on the big screen (let\u2019s not forget Michael Keaton\u2019s Batman blowing up goons with the Batmobile and Christian Bale\u2019s Batman tacking Two-Face off a ledge), the actor\u2019s version of the vigilante was at an emotional low point in his career, which caused him to believe that killing Superman was the only positive difference he could make. Even though Wayne\u2019s arc in the movie put him on the path to being a more recognizable version of the popular hero by the end of BvS (regarding his moral code, that is), the arc left fans divided and wasn\u2019t met positively by critics.<\/p>\n
Only time will tell how Reeves\u2019 handles the iconic DC hero, and whether Affleck will reprise the superhero role or if the rumors about him wanting to depart the DC Extended Universe are true.<\/p>\n
